GoTecID — Executive Summary

Prepared by GoTecID (Pty) Ltd · 22 July 2026

GoTecID is a consent-driven document sharing platform. It lets South African individuals and organisations share the documents they already hold — once, securely, tracked and revocable — instead of emailing scattered copies that can never be recalled.

The opportunity

Across regulated interactions — rental applications, financial services, insurance, onboarding — the same documents are emailed, stored and re-stored by every counterparty. This duplication is costly and expands the surface area for data breaches, and it runs against POPIA’s minimality principle. There is room for infrastructure that lets a document be shared once and disclosed selectively thereafter, under the individual’s control.

The solution

Individuals (GOID) and organisations (GORG) upload documents once and share them through secure, tracked, revocable links. Access is view-only and watermarked, every view is logged in an immutable audit trail, and consent is recorded. Crucially, GoTecID does not verify documents — the receiving organisation does that with its own systems, exactly as it does today. GoTecID moves the envelope; it never judges the contents.

What makes it different

Most tools focus on the moment data is given. GoTecID also owns the moment it should be taken back: when a retention period ends, it reminds the individual and drafts the deletion request for them to review and send. Sharing gives people convenience; the deletion reminder gives them their data back.

Go-to-market

Phase 1 targets rental agencies facing POPIA compliance pressure — a document-heavy, high-friction vertical where the pain is immediate. Fintec Group, an established accounting and tax practice, acts as distribution channel and institutional trust layer (“Powered by Fintec Group”) and as the first white-label tenant.

Compliance foundation

  • Built around POPIA’s eight conditions, with data minimisation as the default posture.
  • Information Officer registered with the Information Regulator (registration 2026-061677).
  • Uploaded documents held as encrypted files the platform never reads; health documents never parsed into structured special personal information.
  • Operator Agreement signed with each organisation; infrastructure operator named in the Privacy Policy.
  • PAIA manual published; legal framework published ahead of launch; no personal information collected through this website.
